The Best of 2011

Today we are going to take a look at the books I reviewed in 2011 and see the top recommended reads of the year. This is also because today is December 16 and, according to all the online sites and catalogues, is also your last day to receive gifts in time for Christmas (with regular postage). You may also be looking for a great read from the library for the holidays and may need to head on down there this weekend before the shelves are empty (like that's going to really happen).

Anyway, I had so many good reads and reviewed 63 books so far this year that it was hard to choose.  So, I decided to break them up into the top ten fiction and the top ten non-fiction for 2011.

Top Ten Fiction for 2011

  1. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest
  2. Love, Unexpectedly
  3. Matched
  4. Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet
  5. A Dog's Purpose
  6. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children
  7. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer
  8. Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter
  9. Grave Witch
  10. Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane
Honorable Mentions:
  • Under Wraps
  • To Distraction
  • Across the Universe
  • Untold Story
  • The Help
Top Ten Non-Fiction for 2011
  1. The Geeks Shall Inherit the Earth
  2. Team of Rivals
  3. No Plot? No Problem!
  4. The Happiness Project
  5. Assassination Vacation
  6. In the Sanctuary of Outcasts
  7. Maverick
  8. The Film Club
  9. The Seven Principles of Making Marriage Work
  10. The Vampire Defanged

I won't stop here, so don't worry. You'll still have a few reviews for the year so you can be gearing up for your 2012 bookshelf. In fact, I discovered there was one book for which I never actually finished writing the review!

And if you are wanting to re-visit my reviews, just find the title in the crowded list to the right here and click on it (the title not the whole list).

Happy reading!

Amelia
